24.01.08MacBook Air’s one USB-port
Last week, Apple introduced the MacBook Air. You’ve probably heard of it already, so I’ll spare you the details.

One thing that potential users have complained about is it’s lack of physical ports. For one thing it lacks an ethernet-port, but the worst thing is the lack of USB-ports. While I agree that this is a serious lack, I will tell you now, that this one USB-port is no ordinary USB-port. Make no mistake - this USB-port might very well be The One ..usb port, which is capable of bringing enough power to power a whole bunch of USB-ports.

This is because this USB-port has extra power. Engadget discovered this, because the external optical drive, which you can buy for the MacBook Air, does not work, when you connect it to ordinary USB-ports. This USB-port is a high-amperage type, which gives it options, beyond normal USB-ports’. Maybe Apple will release something clever for it later on.
